Juan Gonzalez is a Cardinal

MONDAY, 4:24pm: The minor league deal is official for Gonzalez. His base salary is less than $1MM, even if he makes the team. Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina pushed for this, apparently.
Not bad, what can it hurt to be a minor league signing. The answer some give is it will take away AB’s from the youngsters. TLR will give who he wants the At Bats, we don’t have to worry about that.
Makes me wonder if his signing is more insurance for a possible Pujols surgery with a Duncan to first thing. Maybe a deal is about to be made and some of the outfielders are going to be expendable.
No matter what, Juan Gonzalez hasn’t played in about 80 years. Let’s see if he can even do it anymore.
Ok, not 80, but maybe 4.
Can’t wait for Spring Training to get here.

I don’t know how many ABs he’ll take away. I think a lot of the outfielders are going to wind up playing in B games and minor league games to get their cuts.
