Let the Sappiness Tour Begin

Well.well.well Albert has returned to the St Louis Cardinals.

I didn’t blame him for leaving for more money when he went to the Angels. Any blame came on the part of the ownership that was more bent on building Ballpark Village and later the structure to provide apartments/condos along with expensive office space. That was their priority then and now they are back to sucking in the fans for one last sappiness tour of three veterans that are friends in life and outside of baseball.

This reunion will provide fans some closure on a great career and the organization will find an uptick in attendance- so much so that it may pay for the $2.5m they signed Pujols to for one year. He needs 21 home runs to reach 700. Excitement abounds.

If Oli Marmol learned anything from the last year about AP that would be to only use him against left handed pitching. For the Dodgers, he posted a .294 batting average, a .336 on-base percentage and a .603 slugging percentage against left-handed pitchers last season. So let’s stick to that except for opening day.

The more I read/think/watch about this I have warmed up to his return!

Welcome Home, Albert Pujols!
