Cardinals and Minor Leagues- May 8

The Cardinals got hammered and that is all that I want to say.

Memphis Redbirds

Memphis got beat by the Iowa Cubs 6-5 on Tuesday.

Adolis Garcia had one hit and it was a grand slam to add four runs to the loss. Tyler O’Neill continues his hot minor league hitting with three hits in the game. Joe Hudson hit a home run and drove in one but also struck out three times. Drew Robinson, Lane Thomas, John Nogowski and Max Schrock each had one hit in the game.

The pitching was decent as starter Anthony Shew pitched six innings and gave up one hit on no runs with four walks and eight strikeouts. Chasen Shreve allowed three hits and two runs in the 7th inning and Ryan Meisinger allowed a scoreless 9th inning while striking out all three batter.

Springfield Wins 9-2

The offense was led by Conner Capel with three hits including a home run and four RBI’s and Dylan Carlson added three hits of his own with two runs scored in the win. Evan Mendoza, Chris Chinea and Irving Lopez each added one hit. Starter Evan Kruczynski tossed six innings and surrendered five hits, two earned runs with one walk and five punchouts to get the win. Junior Fernandez allowed one hot and no runs in two innings while fanning three.

Tortugas Defeated Palm Beach 4-3

Catcher Julio Rodriguez had three hits including a home run and drove in a pair of runs while aiding with his arm by throwing out one base attempt. Luken Baker garnered two hits but fanned the other three at-bats in the game. Bryce Denton chipped in with one hit and two walks for the offense.

Starting Pitcher Angel Rondon allow six hits in six innings with two earned runs, two walks and struck out four batters. The one hiccup in the game came in the 7th was Mitchell Osnowitz allowed three hits and two runs with one walk and one wild pitch to get the loss. Pitching the 8th, Bryan Dobzanski allowed one hit and no runs.

Peoria Chiefs win 9-6

Edwin Figuera had three hits in the win and three runs batted in. Lars Nootbaar had one hit and Brady Whalen had a double and two RBI’s in the win. Cam Akers was the starting pitcher and got beat around a bit as he threw 3.1IP/5H/5ER/4BB/3K.

Today’s Probables:

Memphis- Austin Gomber (4-0, 4.33 ERA)

Palm Beach- Edgar Gonzalez (1-5, 4.33 ERA)

Peoria- Diego Cordero (2-1, 1.15 ERA)

Memphis and Peoria have a morning start times and Springfield has an off day.
